My name is Matt Frederick, I am a full-time nerd, part-time woodworker. I spend my days working as a technology professional, and have been a hobbyist woodworker for about the last 10 years. I live just outside Philadelphia in Chester County, PA with my partner Jessica. If I'm not working or in the shop, you will find me playing hockey, watching football or working on odd projects around the house.
How I got started:
I really enjoy the feeling of finishing a project or task, and like to create and fix things myself. Figuring out the process to get from an idea to a finished item is something I greatly enjoy. My mom always has some kind of craft project she is working on, so I guess I get it from her. After a few years of making things for myself or friends and family, I finally decided that we have enough wood-based things that we can tolerate, so I decided to start Corner Dog Labs to keep doing what I love
Why are you called Corner Dog Labs?
This is Kunu, she is our labrador retreiver. Those that have a dog know that any time there is food, your dog is nearby. Kunu's favorite place to wait for us to eat dinner is in the corner of our kitchen. I then refer to her as Corner Dog when talking to her. Jess, Kunu and I often are together on hikes, beach trips and other adventures. She is still working on her shop-dog skills but she would rather hang out in the house while I am out there working.
